Our Trustees

Michelle Robertson – Chair Person
Michelle says:
“I have lived in Fallin all my life and live with my husband Billy, my son Lewis and border terrier Rocky. My parents John and Christine own Christine’s Cottage Kitchen in the village (previously Laurie’s Butchers). My family and I have always been involved with the community in one way or another. My dad is the Chairman of the local Miner’s Welfare and my mum ran the Gala and Fun Day for years.
I am a founding member of Fallin Community Voice and look forward to continuing with the fundraising, events and bringing the community together, which has been particularly amazing since the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Naomi Ross – Secretary
Naomi says:
“Originally from Bradford, Yorkshire, I’ve lived in Stirlingshire since 1995 and Fallin since 2018, with my husband and wee black cat.
Passionate about nature and climate action, I work in environmental policy development and sit on the board of Transition Stirling. I love my messy, but very alive garden and feel blessed to live somewhere so friendly, surrounded by such outstanding natural beauty – a stark contrast to the city council estate I was born to.
The newest FCV trustee, I love Fallin’s community spirit and joined to help make our village the best it can be for everyone!”

Steve says:
I was born in Wales, in a mining community near Neath and brought up in Luton. I moved to Scotland in 1989 and settled in Stirling after meeting my wife Elaine. I worked in IT for various organisations from leaving school at 16 until I retired in 2021. We spent 26 years in Bannockburn raising our children Kirstin, Cameron and Robyn before moving to Fallin in September 2022 with our dogs Oscar and Maggie. We moved to Fallin to be nearer our grandson Cooper Bone, now aged 8, and son-in-law Jamie following the loss of Kirstin in February 2022 to help support them. We have 2 other grandchildren Lukas and Elle, as well 2 grand dogs Benji and Zephyr. Elaine and I love the village and have been made very welcome, a bit of a home coming to a mining village for me. We have had a long association with Fallin through various things, Elaine’s mum and dad, Joan and Davie had the post office on the square in the 1990’s and I made a few friends through Freemasonry and Fallin Rangers Support club. We are involved with the Snowdrop Café and love seeing the village growing and coming together through the various events that FCV organise and helping to support the Community Garden.

Alison J Grainger – Trustee
Alison says:
I’ve been the minister in Fallin for 5 years, I moved into the manse the week before lockdown! I’ve been a Trustee from the beginning but with my parish now including Cowie and Plean I have less free time to be involved but FCV is an amazing team and I am very glad to be a member.
Since coming to Fallin I have been impressed by the mutual support and care of the residents. The old mining village traits are still in Fallin in abundance and the success of FCV is in no small part due to the sense of community and the desire locally to improve village life for every resident.
I come from the Highlands originally, I grew up on a Croft and the North West coast of Scotland holds my heart. I have been lucky to have travelled all over the world and spent a year in Australia and a year running a nursery school in Kiribati in the central Pacific.
I enjoy wild swimming in the warmer months and painting and crafts of all sorts.

Steve says:
I’ve lived in Fallin with my wife and our dog Patch (Now chasing squirrels in heaven!) since 2017 and I’m originally from Dorset. Having served in the Royal Navy, I met Leigh whilst serving onboard HMS/m Renown in Rosyth. She is the daughter of Peter and the late Margaret Shambrook. We have been married for 37 years and returned to Fallin to look after her parents.
We both previously lived in Warminster, Wiltshire for 18 years with our daughter Chloe Hannah and Berren. Both who have served in the Royal Navy and live in Plymouth.
Whilst living in Warminster, I was involved in the local cricket club, Rotary, a Feoffee in the local chapel and the British Legion.
It seemed a natural progression to get involved in the Fallin Community Voice. Now I’m involved in the Community Garden.
I’m retired and now enjoy getting involved in the Community Garden in Fallin

Karen says:
I’m a lifelong resident of the village and bring a strong community spirit and public-facing experience from my work in an opticians to my role as a trustee. Having first become involved through helping with local Gala days and fundraisers, I’m passionate about creating memorable experiences for the village’s children—just like the ones I had growing up. I also serve on the Polmaise Community Council and volunteers with the Grub Hub during the winter months. I live locally with my husband and two grown-up children and I’m proud to give back to the community I’ve always called home.

Billy Hodgkinson – Trustee
Billy says:
I was born in the miners blocks in Fallin but my family moved to Tullibody where I grew up and went to school, Abercromby Primary and Grange Secondary.
I served an electrical apprenticeship with the NCB at Manor Powis Colliery. When this closed I was transferred to Polmaise 3/4.
Being a bit of a wanderer I travelled to Africa and worked in the mines there. Eventually I settled back in Scotland and due to the labour market at the time I had to adapt and learn a few different work disciplines but eventually returned to live in Fallin in 1998. I became involved with Fallin Public House Society Limited – The Goth which I find very rewarding having held the office of Treasurer for the last 18 years.
I also find the role as Trustee of Fallin Community Voice very rewarding and I believe my experiences in life can be channelled to benefit this Community.
