Fallin Thermal Minewater Energy Project

Minewater as a resource from Polmaise Pits 3 and 4 in Fallin, Stirling
Geothermal energy: Abandoned mines are often flooded with water that is warmed by the earth’s geothermal gradient.
Heating systems: This warm water can be pumped to the surface, and a heat exchanger and heat pump can extract the heat to warm buildings.
Closed-loop systems: After the heat is extracted, the now cooler water is returned underground to be reheated by the earth. This makes it a sustainable source of heat for Fallin Community Garden and in the future, nearby businesses.
